Ode to the Trainwreck / A poem
By Jim B. A fan of Beck’s Cajun Cafe

Oh, great mash up of bovine and swine
Tossed greasily on a crusty roll with more satisfaction than 1,000 feasts
But unbeknownst to the tongues of those Muslim, & Hindu, & Vegan, & Jew…
As your name may suggest, you are the very depiction of carnage (in the flesh)
Just as wearily eyes are incapable of looking away, so are the mouths of men of turning away
As they yearn hungrily for your sloppy, beefy, cheesy goodness
Your creamy mayonnaise runs deep, deep within your warm center of salami and fried onions
And it is an obtainable spoil for even Scrawny Arms Rob Lowe to enjoy with messy dignity
For it is not without great condiments that any man should be laid to rest
Deliciousness is often fleeting
But yours is not, and it sends quivers down the spines of all with hearty appetites
Be it Adam Richmond, or Kobayashi, or Scooby Doo
The best description of its flavor: DIVINE
The best description of your affliction: INTOXICATING
And alas, the best description of your status post sandwich: COMATOSE

P.S. The Gator Gumbo rocks as well. It’s a spicy, smoky bowl of reptilian joy.

Beck’s is THE best stop in the Reading Terminal Market. Try the Trainwreck sandwich. It truly is a mix of Philly and New Orleans. Their customer service is exceptional. If my husband was left to his own devices, this is the only place he would have ordered from our entire trip.

I absolutely love this place. It is a must do when ever we are in the area. We actually make this a part of our road trip, just so I can get my Beck’s fix. Usually do lunch or ‘linner’ (meal between lunch and dinner), but tried it for breakfast this morning. Had the Alligator Sausage Po’ Boy, it was awesome just like everything else I have ever eaten here. Staff is always friendly and offer great service. I wish they had a place in Southern NH.

For sure the BEST Cajun food you can get local. I ate here today and got the Gator Gumbo on Jambalaya. Slamming, and filling! The pudding cake or whatever it was mind blowing too! I wish I could post a picture of my food. It was what perfection looked like. It’s hard to find good Cajun food unless you go south. But this place is just as good.

And the Catfish is to die for! Getting ready to eat the Beignets I got to go! So exciting! Thank you for being awesome and making my day guys!

First of all. Idk who’s Grandma you’re hiding back there, because I had the bread pudding with the vanilla sauce.... My God. If I would’ve died right after that. It would’ve been perfect. I recommend everything on the menu page.

Incredible food and service, Margaret suggested the Trainwreck and it was the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Classy establishment. Amazing servers.
